Abstract

The paper is a macrosyntactic study on the parenthetical constructions that interrupt the syntactic linearity by the conjunctions y, o. The methodology followed is pragmatic linguistics, that seeks to identify the discursive functions of these sentences and the scope of coordination. The analysis leads us to the conclusion that the presence of the conjunctions in the parentheticals obeys the need to mark some macroestructural relations: argumentative force (y) or reformulation (o).
