Urban renewal in the Intercomuna of Santiago: Responses to Law 18.595 during the period 1987-1990

The promulgation of the Urban Renewal Law (NO 18.595. Treasure Ministry), in January 1987, the definition of urban renewal zones and the public responses, building, rehabilitation, remodeling or rebuilding permissions. give the first signals to start an examination about this topic, in Santiago Interdistrict. In this sense, this paper make a first approach to the urban renewal results. 8asical/y, some deficiences are observed regarding the law's final purpose, the delimitation of the urban renewal zones and a low number ofprojects under the benefits of the law.
